"ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country"-J.F.Kennedy

Petrol price increased by RM0.78, whereas diesel increased by RM 1.00 and a barrel of oil is price almost touch USD 130 at the time whole nation was in frenzy and flocking to petrol kiosk. Even motorbikes also join the crowd. What's the logic behind where you can only save below RM10 and few days petrol for motorbikes? in joining the crowd to panicked and need to wait at least 1/2 hours for your turn to fill up a full tank of petrol, moreover the petrol will be finish in few days and need to fill in RM 2.70/litre. So,is it rational and worth to queue more than 1/2 hours burning vehicle petrol in order to fill a full tank of 'cheap' petrol?
Many people keep condemning the government for reducing subsidies in petrol (its akin to making one naked) after all this while where we as Malaysian has been enjoying 'cheap' subsidies petrol. So, the question is IS THE GOVERNMENT DOING ENOUGH TO CAPPED INFLATION? or ARE WE MALAYSIAN USED TO BEING SPOON-FED? let's look at the case of Proton, MAS and some of the GLCs which is still under the government protection like a baby. It goes along with we as Malaysian as well, where a lot of things we been enjoying is still being subsidies. Now, the government has taken a very and extremely unpopular decision to slowly reduce subsidies on many controlled and subsidies item. This decision in return will create fellow Malaysian slowly adapt the situation of growing up and stop being spoon-fed. Have you ever think, what will happen to the country or government strength in facing globalization, if It still continue to spoon-fed? Which democracy-government in this world like to make unpopular decision? Rationally if 'you' are in the government position, would you make a decision of maintaining your popularity?or the national and future generation interest? which decision would you make?
The other party on the other hand keep blaming the government for adding burden to fellow Malaysian and claim it could bring down petrol price when it become the next government. Well, there might be a lot of ways to bring down the petrol prices. The point to ponder is; How? the 'claimed parties' going to fight with the global issue? when this is not even a national issue. The whole world is facing 'heat' and not us alone. Is the 'claimed parties' going to setup a team of expert traders to trade/speculate with other traders in the world to pare down the global oil price? Or increase subsidies at the expense of future generation? Why not instead of complaining, condemning and blaming; we work together to find solution and answer to face this global issue. "Its either you are part of the problem; part of the solution" is often quoted by a fellow AIESECer. So, Malaysian in large what and how you want your future generation to be?
Let's not ask what the government can do for you; ask what you can do to face this 'crisis' together as 'Truly Malaysian'
